if you are a psychonauts 2 fan, so we hope you don’t have too many plans this weekend, because Double Fine has sparked a game absolutely massive YouTube documentary about the making of the beloved and successful sequel.
This documentary spanned seven years and follows the Double Fine team from the beginning of the design of Psychonauts 2 until its release in 2021. We are watching many, many hours of footage here!
“Ten years after the release of its flagship Psychonauts video game, Double Fine Productions is returning to its most famous franchise with Psychonauts 2. Now, under pressure to produce a worthy sequel, the studio must deal with overambitious designs, low morale, technical challenges and financial problems, all during a turbulent time for the world.”
You can watch the documentary trailer above, but you’ll need to access the correct YouTube playlist if you want to watch all 32 parts in order (but beware, some of them are over an hour long !). If you want to watch the first episode right away, we’ve included it in the article below.
Of course, Psychonauts 2 ended up being a massive hit for Double Fine and Xbox when it released a few years ago, and we’re very interested to see how it all comes together. The game even received a very rare “Outstanding” 10/10 review here on Pure Xbox, so if you haven’t tried it yet, we highly recommend it!
