Take-Two has confirmed reports of layoffs across various divisions of the company. One of them is probably the private division, the team responsible for the publication of Kerbal Space Program 2.

Last month Take-Two, the owner of Rockstar and 2K Games, announced plans to cut jobs to save $50 million. We did not wait long for the first decisions on the matter. The company confirmed the reports by Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, saying the cuts affect several divisions of the company.

Confirmation of dismissals

In a statement provided to PCGamer editors, Take-Two admitted to having terminated, but did not disclose how many employees lost their jobs. We also don’t know the names of the specific departments involved. According to Schreier sources, the job cuts would affect, among others, the private divisionthe editor responsible for, among other things, the Kerbal Space Program series.

“We can confirm that there have been reductions in our US teams, primarily in the corporate and editorial areas (…). The impact of these changes on our US development teams has been minimal,” said Take-Two spokesman Alan Lewis.

Not just in the United States

Unfortunately, the layoffs will not spare divisions that operate outside the United States..

“Outside the United States, we have initiated proceedings in accordance with local laws, which we believe could result in similar reductions,” Lewis added.

Reason for dismissals

As the reason for the layoffs, a Take-Two representative cited that The company “has experienced strong growth in recent years” and “the necessary steps are being taken to position the business for long-term success”..

In turn, in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that the company has not planned any “major reductions” in its workforce. What will be the end result? We will know in time.
