We’re still awaiting the Nvidia RTX 4060 release date announcement, but leaked photos of the GeForce graphics card are already doing the rounds online. While the images don’t reveal anything regarding specs, they do reveal that they will potentially be much smaller than existing RTX 4000 cards.

If you’re on a budget and want to upgrade your gear, chances are you’ve been waiting for the Nvidia RTX 4060 to enter the top graphics card race. At the moment, the cheapest Lovelace GPU available is the RTX 4070 Ti, but it’s not what we would classify as mid-range in terms of specs and price. Rumors suggest that its unannounced sibling, the vanilla RTX 4070, will only cost $50 less, so some PC gamers may have to wait for a 4060 option that may cost less.

Fortunately, the photos shared by Gatito Yukko on Twitter suggest the RTX 4060 Founder’s Edition is in the works, and that’s what we’d call a child. Strangely, the leaker says the card is actually an RTX 4060 Ti, although we can see non-Ti text on the cover (via Videocardz). Of course, there’s a good chance OP knows something we don’t, because there could be Ti’s guts lurking inside the brand’s cover.

It’s worth pointing out that there’s no way to confirm where the leaked RTX 4060 images are legit, so have your usual two cents handy. Even though the photos are real, Nvidia likes to change its mind about release plans, and even the leaker doesn’t seem to know what SKU it really is.

Hopefully, however, the leak is a sign that a smaller, cheaper RTX 4000 graphics card is on the way. Ideally, we’d like to see it arrive alongside the RTX 4070 on April 13, but it’s hard not to be nervous about the potential price of both.

If Nvidia completely abandons the idea of affordable graphics cards this generation, AMD might have a chance to shine. The Radeon RX 7900 XT and XTX are already battling it out on price, with the latter card being $200 cheaper. However, we expect the Radeon RX 7800, 7700 and 7600 to continue their quest for affordability, which may ultimately encourage Nvidia to follow suit.
