Diablo 4 could change the face of Blizzard before Microsoft takes over the company. Open beta players say it’s the best Blizzard game in years.

Diablo IV Open Beta Early Access has ended. Ahead of its next phase proper, which kicks off this Friday, players are sharing their impressions. Positive opinions predominate, saying that thanks to this game Snow storm could return to its previous state.

Downward trend

Ironically, Blizzard’s good streak ended, sort of, after the release of Diablo III. The game has been improved in many ways, including the big DLC called Reaper of Souls and the removal of the auction house, but the arguably sickening visual style couldn’t be changed and is still being criticized at this point. day.

However, the following years saw the release of Hearthstone, which received a ton of DLC, as well as Overwatch, which received very little new content to change. Finally, Blizzard “by chance” released Warcraft III: Reforged, followed by Diablo Immortal. The classics were tarnished and gamers decided the only thing that mattered to Blizzard was money.

Even the decent Diablo II: Resurrected and the “free” Overwatch 2 didn’t help the company’s image. The regular news of veterans leaving the ranks of the studio, whose exodus resembled the evacuation of a sinking ship, didn’t help sink either. Gamers were convinced that Blizzard would only win after the takeover by Microsoft.

Hell of hope for something better

However, it looks like it could happen sooner, at least to some extent. Players started to believe it after the Diablo IV beta, which in their eyes turns out to be the best Blizzard game for many years. Many of them found the past weekend amazing and are looking forward to the next one, not to mention the game releasing in June.

Playing Diablo IV it reminded many of a return to their childhood years. “I played all night, then I got up early in the morning to continue playing”; “I can’t remember the last time I played all weekend,” the players say. Among these statements are praise for the visuals, the atmosphere, the pace of the game (slower than, say, Diablo III), and even the scale.

There is no shortage of critical words either. – mainly refer to the repetitiveness of the dungeons, the aesthetics of the interface and the animations. However, feedback from the community that participated in the initial beta testing phase should be considered positive. They weren’t even affected by server queues and technical issues, which Blizzard struggled with on Friday.

Many players have already declared their intention to return to the world of Sanctuary this Friday, although they will have to create new characters. The Diablo IV open beta phase will be available to all players on PC, PS4, PS5, XOne, and XSX/S. It will start at 5:00 p.m. CET and last until Monday, March 27 at 8:00 p.m. CET. Will subsequent prints be as good? Hopefully.
