Destiny 2 Lightfall launch issues are looming, but that hasn’t stopped Destiny 2 player numbers from hitting an all-time high on Steam, regardless of issues preventing some players from enjoying day one content on Steam. the newest DLC of fps game.
Today marks the highly anticipated annual release of Destiny 2 and the launch of Destiny 2 Season 20, the Season of Challenge. So far, over 316,000 Guardians have logged in to play, even in light of various reported issues. Luckily, Destiny 2 players are no stranger to launch issues, as annual releases usually cause issues with overloading and server crashes. Although it appears that some Destiny 2 servers were throttled upon initial launch, it appears that most players who have purchased the Lightfall expansion are now able to successfully load the FPS game.
The highly anticipated release acts as the penultimate season of the Light vs. Dark storyline clash within the Destiny universe. It’s no wonder, then, that gamers are so eager to play that the game has surpassed its all-time player count on Steam. The release also officially introduces the Destiny 2 Strand subclass, which Bungie has featured in promotional material since the start of Destiny 2 Season 18.
With so many Guardians working on the Lightfall campaign and exploring new gameplay systems like Destiny 2 Guardian Ranks and loadouts, there are bound to be issues. The official Bungie Support Twitter account took note of a number of reported eventswhich include the following:
- The Guardian Rank Solo Objective of Legendary Lost Sectors can be completed with Master and Legendary Lost Sectors.
- Players starting at Guardian Rank 6 will not get Vanguard Lorebooks 1-6 and will only get Vanguard Lorebook 7.
- Guardian Rank seasonal reset text should be fixed. Guardian ranks 7-11 are advanced ranks. Those at these ranks will be reset to rank six at the end of the season.
- The Season of Defiance Triumph “Ascending Scepter Mods” is impossible to complete.
- If the player equips the Strand Shackle Grenade, Swarmers Warlock Exotic Legacy does not create Threadlings when a Tangle is thrown.
The Shielded Foes modifier displays a placeholder icon. - Quicksilver Storm Exotic Auto Rifle and Touch of Malice Exotic Scout Rifle lost 40% damage increase against red bar enemies.
Still, given the number of concurrent players in the game, Lightfall’s release is a huge success. Players report enjoying the new grappling hook features, the heavily teased Neptunian city of Neomuna, and the use of the Strand.
