Update: Bungie has now updated this cheat. In the tweets below you will find the latest instructions:

original story: Destiny 2: Lightfall is now live after a brief downtime for Bungie’s MMO shooter, but there appear to be launch issues specific to Xbox Series X|S versions of the game.

“We are investigating an issue that is preventing some Xbox Series X|S players from logging in. These players will be unable to log into Destiny 2 when the game comes back online on February 28, 2023 at 9:00 AM PT (-8 UTC) unless the following steps are completed…”

Bungie explained how to fix these connection issues before diving into their latest expansion, so we’ll detail all the team’s instructions below if you’re preparing for Lightfall’s release. Oh, and above you can check out our Pure Xbox video on everything you need to know about Destiny 2: Lightfall before you jump in!

How to Log In to Destiny 2 on Xbox Series X|S

Bungie has warned fans that ongoing connection issues will prevent some users access Destiny 2 after Lightfall update, i.e. if they do not change the installation settings. Basically, if you’re one of those affected by connection issues, you’ll need to delete a bunch of old Destiny 2 DLC packs from your storage device before trying to connect.

here is full list of DLCs that need to be removed:

  • Destiny 2: Forsaken – Black Armory
  • Destiny 2: Forsaken – Joker’s Wild
  • Destiny 2: Forsaken – Penumbra
  • Destiny 2: Forsaken Annual Pass
  • Expansion I: Curse of Osiris
  • Expansion II: Warmind

And here’s how to remove these DLC packs on Xbox Series X and Series S:

  • Quit Destiny 2 if the game is running
  • Tap “Manage Game & Add-ons”
  • Deselect any of the above content that you have installed
  • Press “save changes” and allow your system to remove the DLC
  • Relaunch Destiny 2 and log in

As for reinstalling these packages once you’ve successfully logged in, it might be worth keeping an eye on them. Bungie Social Channels for more updates. At the time of this writing, the team has given no instructions on reinstalling these packages, but hopefully they will update the community as Destiny 2: Lightfall begins rolling out in the whole world.
