When is the Death Stranding 2 release date? Hideo Kojima himself has confirmed that it’s on the way, after all. Not much official information has been revealed about Death Stranding 2, but we do know a few things about Kojima Productions’ upcoming release, including speculation on release date, cast details, story, trailers, etc

So what’s next for Sam, Fragile and Louise, the stars of one of the best PC games of 2019? Here’s everything we know about the Death Stranding 2 release date so far, including (a lot of) speculation about the game’s open-world story. If you haven’t played the first Death Stranding, be aware that there are some minor spoilers ahead.

Death Stranding 2 release date speculation

There’s no release date for Death Stranding 2 yet, and it’ll probably be a while before we get one as we’ve only seen a reveal trailer and no gameplay until now. here. Expect the Death Stranding 2 release date to be in 2024/25.

Although Death Stranding 2 was announced as a PlayStation 5 title, we expect the game to release on PC eventually, just like its predecessor. In the case of the first Death Stranding, it took eight months to transition to PC.

Death Stranding 2 trailer

Let’s take a look at the Death Stranding 2 trailer, shall we? Early shots show Fragile and baby Louise in what later turns out to be an underground bunker. Yes, it’s the same baby that Sam carries in his tank in the first Death Stranding game. Louise now appears to be about two years old and looks happy and healthy.

We then see a character that looks a bit like Amelie, the Extinction Entity (a being that causes mass extinction) from the first game. The statuette can also be seen on top of a coffin, in what looks like be a religious procession.

The Death Stranding 2 trailer then shows Fragile and the baby when their house is attacked. Fragile grabs Louise, escapes the bunker, and flees on a motorized unicycle before being shot in the arm and falling to the ground. Someone pulls out a gun, a BB entity is seen inside a human body, and then we see Fragile crawling towards Louise, who is completely still. The sequence ends with a shot of a BB tank surrounded by cryptobiota.

Moments later, Sam Porter Bridges finally appears as he and Fragile watch the reveal of Fragile’s new mechanical ship. Fragile asks him to join his crew, indicating that this scene might appear at the start of Death Stranding 2.

No, it’s not the end of the trailer yet. After the credits, we see a shot of a mysterious masked person holding a guitar, the line “should we have tuned in?” and a BB tank which, instead of a BB, houses an octopus. Enough food for thought, right?

Throwback to Death Stranding 2

One of the things that stood out from the first Death Stranding was its cast of famous actors. It looks like the sequel will be no different. The Kojima Productions website confirms the following Death Stranding 2 cast members:

  • Norman Reedus returns as Sam
  • Léa Seydoux returns to Fragile
  • Troy Baker returns as Higgs Monaghan
  • Elle Fanning in an unknown role
  • Shioli Kutsuna in an unknown role

You might be wondering if there’s a chance of seeing Mads Mikkelsen again in Death Stranding 2. However, given that his character’s story in the first game appears to be over and there’s no mention by Mads Mikkelsen on the Kojima Productions website, we probably shouldn’t. Don’t count on it.

Death Stranding 2 story speculation

Fragile’s new robot, along with her invitation to Sam, suggest there will be a lot of travel in Death Stranding 2. Whether or not baby Louise will be there with us remains to be seen, as the still baby body at the end of the bunker – The escape scene suggests the worst…

But don’t despair, as the Death Stranding 2 trailer clearly hints at alternate timelines, possibly even false realities. In particular, we can see Fragile’s body looking young and healthy at the start of the trailer, even though her body in the original game has aged due to temporary exposure. In a later scene, Fragile takes cover again. Has Fragile found a way to heal his body? Or did the scene with Louise dying really not happen? To make matters even stranger, Fragile’s eyes appear to be dripping with a tar-like substance, suggesting that she may have died and come back to life as a returnee.

Another interesting detail is Sam’s hair, which somehow turned gray. Maybe it’s just the passage of time, or maybe he suffered from the fall of time too. However, since her face and body look exactly alike, it’s much more likely that something else changed her hair color.

It looks like the robed characters, including the person apparently shooting Fragile, could become our main enemies in Death Stranding 2, perhaps with the masked guitarist as their leader. Depending on their appearance, the guitarist could be Higgs, Amelie, or at least someone with a strong connection to the latter. After all, the mysterious person is wearing a mask, and Troy Baker has already been confirmed as a cast member of Death Stranding 2. At the same time, the mysterious person sports the same hairstyle as Amelie, while also wearing her necklace.

While that’s about all we know about Death Stranding 2 at the moment, you can make the wait a little easier by playing one of the best RPGs or horror games, because there certainly has something for everyone.
