How to Get More Dead Island 2 Ability Cards
Players will be able to earn Ability Cards by upgrading their character or looting them from dead enemies. Collectibles can also be found scattered around the city, so they will also need to be explored.
First seen in today’s gameplay video, the cards grant special powers, abilities, and blessings to aid in combat. Ability cards are classified into different categories: Innate, Ability, Survivor, Slayer, and Numen, and players can select a different number of cards from each. These cards can be changed at any time during the game, even in the air if you wish. While most cards can be used with all six Slayers, it looks like innate cards will be limited to one character. Here are some of the maps we’ve seen so far:
- (INNATE) Thunderstruck: Dani’s heavy attacks trigger a large explosion on impact.
- (INNATE) Bloodlust: Dani recovers health by killing multiple zombies in quick succession.
- (SKILLS) Block: Defend against incoming attacks. Timely blocks restore your stamina and stun zombies, leaving them open to a devastating counterattack.
- (SKILLS) Dodge: Dodge incoming attacks. Well-timed dodges restore your stamina and stun zombies, leaving them open to a devastating counterattack.
- (SKILLS) Dropkick: Performs a hard-hitting kick attack that can send normal zombies flying.
- (SKILLS) Flying Kick: Perform a powerful flying kick attack.
- (ABILITIES) Battlecry: Let out a fierce cry that increases your stamina and that of nearby squad members. Also mitigates nearby zombies.
- (SKILLS) Dash Strike: Dash forward and strike zombies, knocking them down.
Exact descriptions of the others have not been revealed, but the combination of Dash Strike and the Slayer Hammer Fist ability “will unleash an attack capable of launching zombies into the stratosphere.” Meanwhile, the Ground Pound Abilities card combined with the Survivor Flare Up and Quake cards “will create a truly devastating ground slam that knocks down zombies and ignites the ground beneath them.” Deep Silver Dambuster Studios suggests players will find a build to suit every situation and playstyle.
