Cuphead fans are lost for the physical Japanese edition which features artwork by the legendary Yoshitaka Amano.

Earlier this week, Studio MDHR revealed the physical version of Cuphead in Japan via Amazon (opens in a new tab), which comes with The Delicious Last Course DLC and bonus goodies like a sticker sheet. A big selling point for the physical edition is that it features artwork by prolific Final Fantasy and manga artist Yoshitaka Amano for anyone lucky enough to get their hands on the physical edition.

Unsurprisingly, Cuphead and Amano fans are absolutely lost on Twitter for the collaboration. The tweets below are just a sampling of fans around the world outside of Japan who are desperately clamoring for the need to get their hands on this special physical edition of Cuphead, solely because of Yoshitaka Amano’s artwork.

Many comparisons are made between Amano’s new work and his art for Final Fantasy 6. Fans point out how much the characters in the new work resemble Final Fantasy’s Terra, with one describing Amano as a “gamer”. call it a day.

Considering Cuphead’s wacky art style, it’s perhaps no surprise that Studio MDHR turned to Yoshitaka Amano to help sell their game in Japan. The platformer garnered attention for its artwork when it was released nearly half a decade ago, and to this day it still stands out as an amazing creation.

For those unfamiliar with Amano’s work, I recommend looking at his previous works. The artist rose to fame for his work on manga titles such as Demon City Shinjuku and Vampire Hunter D, before gaining international recognition for his work on the Final Fantasy series, particularly Final Fantasy 6 and 7. Inspired by his legendary profession, no one even realizes.
