Arena battle in Champions Ascension is now a bit more exciting and chaotic with the addition of Team Arena combat. Players no longer need to be alone in the arena as the team introduces a new team battle mode! With two teams of three, this new mode adds a number of additional twists to arena combat.
No longer satisfied with seeing two warriors fighting on the sand of the arena, the Emperor of Massina decreed a new type of combat. The one where two teams engage in a fierce fight until only one side remains!
Team battle in the arena
The arena map becomes more complex, with destructible fences, a spike trap in the center and two types of bonuses available on the map! The first of these power-ups is a damage power-up known as Crocaine (created from Crocolisk’s teeth). This buff can be found in the center of the map, above the spike trap. Grabbing it grants the player a 100% damage bonus for 20 seconds!
The second type of power-up, Life Crystals, can be found hidden behind two of the pillars, as well as outside the fenced area. These heal the player for 50% of their maximum health. However, after five minutes, the life crystals turn into crocaine. Just to make sure these battles don’t last forever.
Another addition in this update is the ability to lock onto a specific target. Players can toggle target lock on and off by pressing R3 on a controller or F on the keyboard. Changing target locks involves pressing right and left on the directional pad on the controller or the tab on a keyboard.
Upcoming enhancements to this new game mode include the ability to queue as a team and voice chat. And, of course, there will be ongoing tweaks and changes as the champion team strives to balance Arena combat.
For now, single combat is disabled in the arena as the team wants to test the 3v3 mode. The alpha is always free and regular sessions are open two or three times a day from Thursday to Sunday every weekend!

What is Rise of Champions?
Champions Ascension is an upcoming gladiator fighting game built in a virtual world. Although 3D arena combat was the original selling point and centerpiece of the game, Champions Ascension also builds an open world around it. The one where players can walk around and interact. The world includes crafting, farming, land ownership, an in-game market, a betting system, mini-games and much more!
