Capcom released a Resident Evil 4 Remake parody of the anime titled “Leon and the Mysterious Village”. The first episode, titled “Finding Ashley”, sees an incredibly happy Leon heading to a town full of unwelcoming villagers and a deceptively friendly dog.

Resident Evil 4 could be such a happy place

The Resident Evil 4 parody anime was created by Nippon Animation, the team behind famous World Masterpiece Theater shows for Japanese children like A Dog of Flanders and Heidi of the Alps from the 1970s. Despite its initial appearance, the Resident Evil Masterpiece Theater is definitely not kid friendly even though there is hardly a cloud in the sunny sky. There is the celebration of someone’s impending death with song and dance. I’ve never seen anyone so happy to be killed by a Village Won, nor can I remember the Resident Evil 4 death screen showing rainbows. And please don’t pet the Fangs dog. Instead, enjoy this alternate version of Leon’s life story.

Capcom hasn’t mentioned if there will be more episodes of Leon and the Mysterious Village, but the game will be released on March 24. I haven’t played the Resident Evil 4 demo released on the Capcom show yet, but I have a feeling the game will have a completely different vibe than the anime.
