Capcom turns 40 in 2023, and the company is enjoying an era of great success and a promising future. Resident Evil, Monster Hunter… Capcom’s IPs keep selling out after each release, and its president Haruhiro Tsujimoto spoke to Famitsu about its move to digital sales, expansions of previously released titles, and prospects for the global market.
But right now, the company’s attention is on its next fighting game, Street Fighter 6, which goes on sale June 2. With this new opus, Capcom even hopes to improve the trajectory of Street Fighter V, which since its launch in 2016 has sold 7 million copies. With SF6, the number to beat is 10 million.
“Street Fighter V has already sold over 7 million copies, so if we can leverage our experience in digital sales, we should be able to aim for 10 million copies with the next game. So we’re trying to do everything we couldn’t do earlier with Street Fighter 6 – that’s where we are today.”
What do you think, can Street Fighter 6 reach 10 million copies over its entire life cycle?
