In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, the start of Season 3 is getting closer: The new season is expected for April 22nd. Big changes seem to be pending for Warzone. In the past few days and weeks there have been rumors about a major update that brings a new map for the Battle Royale shooter.

Accordingly, the new map plays in the Russian Ural Mountains – and thematically moves closer to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Verdansk, the current Warzone map, is said to be completely overrun by zombies. There are also rumors that the zombie invasion will result in the explosion of an atomic bomb, which lays Verdansk in ruins.

The developers at Treyarch and Raven Software also seem to have planned a number of innovations for the following seasons. In a recent interview with the website inverse.com, Brandon Snow, Activision Blizzard Esports Chief Revenue Officer, said upcoming Warzone seasons will bring “cool new things” that Warzone “has never seen before”.

Snow did not want to reveal what changes and innovations are pending for the Battle Royale shooter.

However, he added that the planned features will be implemented in the “typical Call of Duty way”. The 1980s theme of Cold War offers countless opportunities for new content. Currently, the Cold War setting in Warzone is only represented by the operators and weapons. A map that is thematically adapted to Cold War is still missing.

“Only Warzone could do the things that we have planned for the coming seasons. The 80s setting brings countless opportunities for innovative content,” says Snow in an interview.

In an interview, he adds that Activision does not necessarily consider the battle royale shooter Fortnite to be a competitor. Rather, one is focused on designing Warzone according to one’s own plans. As usual, we will keep you up to date in our news area.
