According to the CMA, the Nintendo Switch cannot run Call of Duty. What a disappointment for Microsoft in its acquisition of Activision-Blizzard!

After years of absence, Call of Duty returns to Nintendo! Inevitably, players expect an episode on Switch whose technical sheet is less powerful than that of a PlayStation or an Xbox. But the CMA, the British market authorityYou think your console can’t run Call of Duty. Bad news for Microsoft in its quest to buy Activision-Blizzard.

The CMA is not convinced by Microsoft’s arguments

The British market authority does not seem willing to validate Microsoft’s Activision-Blizzard takeover bid. That the CMA considers that the Nintendo Switch cannot run Call of Duty in the best conditions is a blow for Microsoft which is betting on global access to the games of its future acquisition to counter accusations of monopoly.

In a CMA report, we read that “ nintendo switch (…) could not support some multiplayer games with high graphics (like Call of Duty) ” due hardware limitations. For the UK market authority, Activision won’t be able to deliver a full experience compared to PlayStation, Xbox or even PC.

As a reminder, Microsoft and Nintendo have signed a 10-year contract for the return of Call of Duty on Switch. But it is very likely that the FPS will be present in the next machine from the Japanese manufacturer. After all, the Switch is nearing the end of its life, and many are waiting for Nintendo’s new, more powerful console. Without competing with PlayStation or Xbox but with enough technical data to enjoy the best Call of Duty experience possible.

A 100 GB cooperative FPS game on Nintendo Switch? We fully understand that the CMA be skeptical of the console’s capabilities to support a modern installment of Call of Duty without degrading the experience. Whether on the performance side, graphics or even gameplay. For cross-play, it seems complicated! Case to follow.
