According to Microsoft, Call of Duty Mobile should blush when Warzone Mobile arrives.

Scheduled to launch later this year, Warzone Mobile is in Activision’s plans following the rise in popularity of Battle Royale. However, it seems that this next title comes to sound the death knell for the current mobile game of the Call of Duty license.

Towards a gradual closure of Call of Duty Mobile?

Call of Duty Mobile is a real success. The latter allowed the company to pocket a billion dollars in 2021 and to reach a new download record in 2022. Indeed, more than 650 million people downloaded the game last year. However, despite two glorious years, Call of Duty Mobile is probably coming to an end.

Microsoft says Call of Duty Mobile should be phased out with the release of Warzone Mobile. Activision has not yet communicated on the subject, but the goal would be to replace the current game with Warzone Mobile.

Previously named Project Aurora, Warzone Mobile is on a mission to bring together friends, family, and people from around the world into a global community of players, the publisher claims. Activision goes on to say that your next mobile game must offer a fast, precise and high quality gaming experience, but above all new.

In the last news, Warzone Mobile will have shared progression with Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. The objective of this maneuver is to create a unified and ultra-connected Call of Duty experience between the titles of the license. Thus, the last leaks which allowed to see a little gameplay on Verdansk are now obsolete.

Developed by Shanghai-based Activision studios, Beenox, Digital Legends and Solid State, Warzone Mobile is slated for release in 2023. While some lucky ones may stumble upon the battlefield already, a release date for a worldwide release has yet to be made official.
