Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward has fully revealed its Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 roadmap for Season 2, and it’s safe to say that the release of information is proving somewhat controversial. While Warzone 2.0 players seem pretty happy with what’s to come in the game’s second season, fans of MW2’s multiplayer are starting to feel a bit frustrated.

Fans’ frustration stems from the fact that, so far, there has been no brand new 6v6 multiplayer maps for Modern Warfare 2 at the moment, and this trend continues in season 2. The first season of the game delivered two remakes with “Shipment” and “Shoothouse”, while the second season brings another remake, “Dome”, and a beta version return. map with the “Valderas Museum”, the last of which was supposed to be a base map of the game before its release was delayed.

There’s plenty of other content included in this roadmap for Warzone 2.0 and “Ground War” players, but the new standard multiplayer content is a little thin on the ground, and players are letting it know:

This may be the worst 6v6 season in CoD history… by modernwarfare2

CI has released the roadmap for Season 2: The Museum is Back. No NEW cards at this time. Designed by modernwarfare2

It should be remembered that Warzone 2.0 is a free gameMW2’s $70 price tag likely adding to growing fan frustration over the lack of meaningful post-launch content for multiplayer users.

While we think the reaction may be a little overdone: good map remakes are always welcome and there are still new weapons etc. included here; we have to agree that the full price game should get as much attention as Warzone 2.0.

Hopefully the multiplayer content pipeline picks up as the game progresses in 2023. If not, it looks like another CoD game could be released this year, if you’re already looking forward to the sequel! Who would have known?
