The recently released Soulslike game Shadow Faith: Forsaken supposedly copied animations from old ringwith players uploading side-by-side comparisons of the two games revealing incredibly similar combat patterns.

Videos showing the comparisons have been uploaded to Imgur (via ResetEra), showing a number of striking similarities. Although some of the animations in Bleak Faith have increased or decreased in speed compared to those of Elden Ring, they are still recognizable and incredibly similar to those used in FromSoftware’s open-world game.

What Bleak Faith: Forsaken ‘copied’ by Elden Ring

Among the animations said to be “copied” from Elden Ring are an enemy attack that sees the opponent swinging a long staff weapon, Malenia’s knockback animation, as well as various poses (via Imgur).

As ResetEra users pointed out, Bleak Faith wouldn’t be the first game to copy moves from another release, with a notable example being Genshin Impact using animations similar to Nier Automata. However, given that Bleak Faith and Elden Ring belong to the same subgenre that FromSoftware popularized, comparisons between the two were already inevitable, thus inevitably drawing criticism for Archangel Studio’s new action RPG.

FromSoftware recently revealed that they are working on a new DLC expansion for Elden Ring, titled “Shadow of the Erdtree”, but a report claims it will be released after the developer’s upcoming Armored Core 6.
