Across the Obelisk is a deck-building card game in the spirit of Slay the Spire where every game can feel different. While battling enemy encounters, you can encounter different in-game events. These narrative choices will often give you a few branching options with different outcomes. One such event you can find involves a magic circle with colored runes, called The Colored Runes. In this guide, we’ll explain each of the options for The Colored Runes and what you can get out of them in Across the Obelisk.

The colored runes can be found at the Magic Circle location, which is usually on the second floor of Act 4. It appears at the bottom of the map, marked as a common event. When you select it, you’re given a brief plot text of what you found, but more importantly, you’re presented with four options.

Each choice gives you a different result and you cannot choose again after making your choice. Here are all the options and their effects:

  • (Leave) You prefer not to tempt fate and leave: This option simply allows you to withdraw from the event without consequences or rewards.
  • (Use) Try pressing orange, blue and green: This option is the “right” option which only gives you 12 XP points.
  • (Use) Try pressing pink, red and orange: This option is the “bad” option that starts a fight against a squad of automatons (including battle rewards if you win) and then gives you 12 XP points.
  • (Use) As the demon summoning guide says, you press black, orange, and red: If you collected the ruined book in Senenthia and completed the following steps, this option will be available to select and claim the Asmody pet card.
