Bad news for fans of physical games, because unfortunately Bethesda has confirmed that the physical edition of Redfall does not include the disc, because instead it includes a code to use its digital version on Steam or in the Xbox store. In the case of Xbox, the code gives us the game with Smart Delivery on Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and Windows PC.

In recent generations we have seen how it is increasingly common that certain physical editions of video games are not included on a disc, since some companies have decided to launch these versions with a code to redeem it at the place. This hadn’t happened with first-party releases from major companies, but unfortunately Redfall will continue this trend, as confirmed by Bethesda.

This is the second bad Redfall news we’ve received from Bethesda in the last month, as in early February it was confirmed that Redfall requires an always-on internet connection to play. This means that it is not possible to play offline even if you play alone, which disappointed many fans who were waiting for it.

The physical edition of Redfall does not include a disc, neither on PC nor on XBOX.

Although it is one of the most anticipated Xbox video games of the year, Microsoft and Bethesda’s decisions with Redfall are somewhat questionable, especially after the release of Halo: Infinite, which did not include the disc game. Hopefully that won’t be the rule for subsequent Xbox exclusive titles, so we can only wait for news on Forza Motorsport and Starfield releases this year.

Recall that Redfall will go on sale on May 2, 2023 and will be available from launch on Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC, as well as on the Xbox Game Pass service for consoles, PC and the cloud. Although Redfall will not come to Xbox One, it will be possible to play this Xbox exclusive on this console thanks to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and its cloud gaming, as well as on mobile devices and browsers.
