One of the biggest ‘state of play’ revelations yesterday was for Baldur’s Gate 3with Larian Studios’ RPG now confirmed for PlayStation 5. While an Xbox version has yet to be announced, our chances of seeing it at some point have increased a bit following the reveal.

In a PR statement provided to Push Square, the team confirmed that Larian has no type of agreement with Sony regarding PlayStation exclusivity.

Currently, Larian plans to release Baldur’s Gate 3 for PC, Mac, GeForce NOW, and PS5. That being said, they are not exclusive and will announce support for additional platforms when they are ready.”

Meanwhile, the studio chief told fans to “relax” on the team’s exclusivity plans.

So at this point it looks like the first release on PlayStation is a developer decision, likely due to resource management while the team works on porting the game. That makes an Xbox release much more likely at a given time, even if not at launch.

If you want to check out the new trailer that accompanied yesterday’s PlayStation announcement, we’ll drop it below. And of course, we’ll bring the news if Larian announces an Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3. We’re waiting!
