The second season of Arcane won’t be released this year, according to Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent, and isn’t expected to air until at least 2024.
In an interview with League of Legends caster Guan Ze Yuan, Laurent said there are several reasons why we won’t be seeing the series this year. “I just watched the third episode of the second season before my flight,” he said. “It’s not ready yet and there are two reasons for that. One, we want quality. We don’t want to rush. It takes time. That’s the right reason. The wrong reason is, honestly , we didn’t know if the first season was going to be a success, so we only started working on the second one after it was released.”
“We waited a bit, and now we are paying the price. So unfortunately it won’t be this year.”
This may be a blow to fans of Riot’s animated series, but it’s good to know that the company is betting on the quality of the second season rather than rushing it.
