When Cygames announced Granblue Fantasy Versus Risingsays the full current list of Against It will be available from launch. He also stated that new characters would be added to the Growth list, but without specifying who. We now know of at least one, thanks to an announcement that aired on February 25, 2023 during the Cygames Cup 2023. Divine General Anila joins Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising when it launches later in 2023.

The trailer shows some brief shots of the Divine Generals’ Shrine, which serves as a nexus for New Year’s Eve events at FGB appropriate. Then it shows Anila in Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising 3D render, riding one of his sheep. He then strikes a pose similar to his capless character art. The end of the teaser also reveals that another trailer will be uploaded on March 4, 2023. He did not specify if the trailer will be for a new character or for Anila again.
Anila is one of the twelve divine generals of FGB. Divine Generals are limited characters that are normally only available during FGBAnnual New Year celebrations. Each of the Divine Generals is themed after a sacred animal of the Chinese zodiac. Since its introduction in 2015, the Year of the Sheep, Anila’s character design has been inspired by sheep. She is voiced by Aoi Yuuki, who also played Hibiki in symphony teamfutaba to character 5and Lucia in Cyberpunk: Edge Runners.
Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising It’s in development for PS4, PS5, and PC and will be released in 2023.
