It’s hard to imagine a magical fantasy setting like Hogwarts Legacy without the appearance of magic’s archetypal horned equines: unicorns. These beautiful and majestic horses are known to have magical properties in their hair, which can be used to enhance your clothes at the Haunted Loom in the Room of Requirement. Plus, you can keep these adorable beasts as tameable pets in your vivarium, the pocket dimension where you keep all the fantastical beasts you’ve rescued in the Highlands. As for where to find unicorns in Hogwarts Legacy, they only appear in one place on the world map.

The only place you can find unicorns in Hogwarts Legacy is the Beast Den on the eastern side of the Forbidden Forest near the northern border of Hogsmeade Valley. Unlike Giant Purple Toads, Jobberknolls, or Puffskeins, you can’t find unicorns anywhere outside of the Forbidden Forest. Also, usually only one of these magical horned equines appears in the den at a time. Luckily, there is a method to effectively “breeding” unicorns if you want to fill your nurseries with these majestic beasts.

For convenience, you should have access to the Flu Flame fast travel point in Upper Hogsfield, a village north of Hogsmeade. Additionally, newcomers to Hogwarts Legacy are advised to unlock their flying broom as soon as possible; otherwise, the journey to the den of beasts and back will be unpleasant. Accordingly, travel to Upper Hogsfield, hop on your broomstick, and fly to the location of Unicorn Den in the Forbidden Forest east of Hogwarts Legacy. Avoid landing directly on the lair, as such an approach will scare the beast away. Instead, land on one of the dirt roads surrounding the POI. Beware of the many enemies that roam the roads in the area.

Then cast Disillusion and approach the Lair, being careful not to go in the same direction as the Unicorn. Throw Accio and Levioso, followed by a Nap-Sack grab. If you play on normal difficulty or higher, the Unicorn will have six “life points” that you must manage before you can save it. Don’t worry if you fail the first time, because the Unicorn can’t fly like Thestral or Hippogriff in Hogwarts Legacy. Alternatively, you can set the game’s difficulty to Story, turning a Nap-Sack capture into an instant save with no mini-game required.

Once you’ve trapped the unicorn in its lair in Hogwarts Legacy, quickly return to Upper Hogsfield Floo Flame. According to our tests, the Unicorn respawned after we went three times quickly to Upper Hogsfield. We tried several times to use the Wait function in Hogwarts Legacy, but this approach had no effect. However, after going to Upper Hogsfield three times while checking the Unicorn’s Lair between fast travels, the Beast respawned on the third try, allowing us to catch up. Although there is no official information on respawn times for beasts or hostile mobs, the above method explains how we could quickly save a second unicorn within 3 minutes of the first one.
