The Dredge Recording Rarity quest is given to you by the peddler on the pontoon and asks you to find four rare and exotic fish: the Oarfish, Gobbler Eel, Goliath Tigerfish, and Coelacanth. These exotic fish are found all over the world, one in every place (except the initial zucchini), and are very hard to find. With substantial rewards for completing this side quest, we’ve gone out and found all of the Recording Rarities exotic fish locations in Dredge, so you can get them all yourself.

There are four exotic fish players need to find the Dredge locations for the Traveling Trader Registration rarity quest, which we feature below.

  1. Rowing (Gale Cliffs)
  2. Gobbler Eel (Star Basin)
  3. Goliath Tiger Fish (twisted yarn)
  4. Coelacanth (devil’s backbone)

You can scroll down to find them all or use the side tabs to get to the one you want to capture first; however, note that you will need to have unlocked Hadal and Nether Dredge Fishing options for catching most of these fish, and many of them will also require the dredging explosives Also, so make sure you have all of that ready to go. It is also important to know that these fish are available to catch at any time of the day. Otherwise, let’s see what the depths have to offer…

  • Location: Gale Cliffs, coordinates P-3
  • Requires: To be abyssal

The Oarfish is in Gale Cliffs and is VERY well hidden if you don’t know where to look. Head to the open section in the southeast corner where you found the Family Crest, right in the middle of the one-eyed fish hunting ground, coordinates P-3, and there will be a waterfall, one through which you can navigate. without being hurt. On the other side is a hidden cave, with the oar in the middle waiting to be fished out.

  • Location: Star basin, coordinates F-4
  • Requires: Vara Hadal

Gulper Eel can be found in Stellar Basin, in the trench that extends northeast from the central pit where the sprawling horror kills anything that gets too close. It’s not really in the danger zone, so you should be fine. If you need help finding the hotspot you’re waiting for, go to the abandoned research outpost inside the basin and face west, scanning it with your telescope. You’re looking for a silhouette with a curved tail and a big shape in the front that could be an open jaw or a big claw (it comes first).

  • Location: Twisted strand, coordinates F-14
  • Requires: mangrove stalk, explosives

This tigerfish can be found in the maze of Twisted Strand, but what you’re looking for is the large open dead end marked on the map at coordinates F-14. Bring Explosives: This dead end is cut off by a tree that you must destroy. Once inflated, you will be able to access this little water cul-de-sac with the Goliath Tiger Fish inside.

How to Catch Coelacanth on Dredge

  • Location: Devil’s Thorn, coordinates Q-12
  • Requires: Nether Rod, Explosives

The Primordial Coelacanth is found on the easternmost island of Devil’s Strand. Approach the east side at the edge of the map at coordinates Q-12 and Q-13, and you’ll see a strait of water running through the island, blocked on both sides by rocks. Blast the rocks on both sides to get in, and the Coelacanth Fishing Spot is in the middle of this little strait.

Record Rarities Pursuit Rewards

The rewards for saving rarities are better and worse than you might think. The Traveling Merchant doesn’t actually take the fish from you, he just wants to see that you caught it.. This means that even after selling them, she will give you the reward if you tell her that you caught them, i.e. two search parties for exotic fish caught. Not only that, but each exotic fish is worth $250 when soldand more if you have sales bonuses for reading books.

However, there is no general reward for completing the quest, disappointing. Once you give him the final fish, whatever it is, the dealer simply hands you the last two parts of the search as he did every time, gives you a thumbs up and waves that the search is now complete. Awww.
