The upcoming horror game sequel Alan Wake 2 is now “playable from start to finish” according to developer Remedy, although remakes of Max Payne and Control 2 are still in the design phase. Additionally, Alan Wake Remastered is still royalty-free, but Codename Condor and Project Vanguard multiplayer games are still in development as the Finnish developer releases its 2022 financial results.

“Alan Wake 2 is in full production,” said Tera Virtala, CEO of Remedy. “The game will soon have all the content in place and will be playable from start to finish. Then we will move on to polishing the experience. Virtala says that Alan Wake Remastered, released in 2021, “has not yet generated royalties “, but that Remedy expects sales of the action-adventure game to pick up before Alan Wake 2.

However, some planned Remedy games are still missing. Control 2, the sequel to the 2019 puzzle shooter, is currently in the proof-of-concept stage, with concrete gameplay and story ideas complete, but full-scale development has yet to begin. “We are satisfied with the work done by the team,” says Virtala. “We now have detailed concepts around the vision for the game and all creative areas including gameplay, storytelling and art.”

The Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes have yet to begin full-time development and remain in the design stage. Virtala says the project has made “good progress,” but doesn’t offer any further details on the iconic character’s return to PC.

Project Condor, supposedly a multiplayer spinoff of Control, is also in the “proof of concept” stage as Remedy continues to hire developers to deliver what will eventually be a live service game. “Codename Condor is a service-based game and as such a new type of game for Remedy,” says Virtala. “We make sure the base game is solid. We are building the right team and the right production model for the game and patiently progressing development.”

Project Vanguard, planned as a free-to-play PvE shooter “combining Remedy’s narrative and action gaming experience into an immersive multiplayer experience”, is also still in the proof-of-concept phase, with Virtala saying Remedy is working on it. the “base game” and the “metagame”, as well as the “Remedy-style storytelling and world-building” application.

Alan Wake 2 is slated for release in 2023. Subsequently, Remedy announces that it plans to release “one new game per year starting in 2023, along with additional free and paid content.” This could mean that Control 2 or the Max Payne remakes will be released in 2024. Hopefully.
