Nintendo’s legendary creator Shigeru Miyamoto recently shared his thoughts on the company’s future without him.
Since his arrival at Nintendo in 1977, Shigeru Miyamoto has become a true icon of the video game industry, thanks to the creation of popular franchises such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda or Donkey Kong. However, the time will come when the father of these iconic characters will put an end to this great story on Nintendo. As time passes, some wonder what Nintendo’s future will be like without him.
Miyamoto trusts the essence of Nintendo
In a recent interview with our colleagues from NPR, Miyamoto talked about the future of the company. He expressed his confidence in Nintendo’s shared vision, saying through an interpreter: “You know, I really feel like it’s not going to change… It’s probably going to be the same. There are, you know, members of the management team, creators within the company, and also people who create Mario, they all have this sense of what it means to be Nintendo..“
Gamers around the world have been captivated by his creative style, unique vision and passion for the game. Although the day of his resignation is inevitable, it’s clear his legacy will be lasting. Miyamoto’s imprint on the gaming industry is deep, and even after his retirement he will likely continue to inspire generations of gamers and creators to come.
However, he doesn’t seem ready to hang up and is currently working on various projects at Nintendo such as The Super Mario Bros movie and the latest installment in the Pikmin franchise: Pikmin 4. This still leaves many hours of play in perspective!
