Over the years, Fortnite has changed in just about every way. Today, we’re bringing you the 8 most important changes you need to be aware of when playing Epic Games production in 2023.

Fortnite has been around for more than five years and one thing must be admitted: during this period, the production of Epic Games has greatly changed the balance of power in the video game market. The creators didn’t stop to refine the formula, and today it holds the title of one of the most popular video games of this generation. It is quite possible that in the past you have tried your luck on Fortnite, but that you have finally abandoned this production. If so, you might be interested to know that it’s a completely different title now. We are going to introduce you to the most important changes that have happened to Fortnite in recent years. Maybe one of them will make you want to come back to Epic Games production.

1. Added no-build mode

Although there have been many changes in Fortnite in recent years, the biggest has undoubtedly been the permanent addition of Zero Build mode to the game. As part of it, we get an unbuilt game mode. Placed structures on the fly have been replaced with additional auto-renewing armor, as well as improvements to character mobility. It’s perfect for players who didn’t like building, and without this mechanic the game still has a lot of advantages: the fights are more dynamic, because you can’t build cover quickly anymore.

Our advice!

If you are new to Fortnite, you should start with Zero Build mode.

2. More PvE Items

Chapter 2 introduced a PvE mode where we fought multiple opponents in standard Battle Royale skirmishes. Currently there are even more of these activities on the map and very often they have an interesting story. These elements were added to diversify the gameplay and have been greatly developed over the years. Bots and opponents provide additional tools to help you win games, like us resources, weapons or can even join our team. Defeating them shouldn’t usually cost you a headache (as long as other players don’t bother us), and AI-controlled enemies often appear in Season Missions. It is also worth knowing that the game contains animals that we can kill, obtain healing items or tame and use as mounts.

3. New Map

Of course, if we talk about changes in Fortnite, we cannot leave out such an important element as the map where all the battles take place. As of this writing, i.e. during Chapter 4, we are once again getting a brand new location. This time the island is about 30% smaller., which makes the fight much more dynamic. Also, so-called territories have been added, which we can take control of to get rare items, and we can also see enemies and locked chests in the designated area for a limited time.

4. Increases reality

One of the biggest changes introduced in the latest chapter are the so-called Reality Augments: enhancements that players can select during gameplay. During each game, we get up to four Boosts (there are some for draws that give us two items from the general bag, and each time we have to choose one). Available augments can improve mobility or offer specific items. This is a solution supposed to allow each player to customize the game as they see fit. It is important to note that the developers have been careful to update the aforementioned mechanics: at the time of writing, five additional boosts have been added to the game and it is to be expected that over time the developers experiment a lot with this element of the game.

Our advice!

Don’t be afraid to experiment with different magnifications. Maybe you accidentally discover a new style of play that suits you better.

5. New Unreal Engine 5.1

The last chapter is also a big visual change: all production has been migrated to Unreal Engine 5.1, which significantly improves the look of the game and gives developers more opportunities to create new attractions on the map. Everything has been improved, from textures to water and light reflections.

6. Fortnite Team

Fortnite was one of the first games to reward the efforts of players who put a lot of time into it. The introduction of a pass, which lets you buy another one for free each time you complete the last one, was quite an innovative concept. In theory, the player only had to pay for the pass once in order to be able to use it in each subsequent season. This, of course, means spending countless hours in-game each season, but players seemed to love this form of reward for their dedication. A novelty that may surprise returning players is the fact that after a while Epic Games developers introduced a kind of subscription to their production: the fortnite crew . This is a deal where players can get monthly bundles of items, including a Battle Pass unlock, new skins, and extra V-Bucks. It’s a great solution for gamers who want to spend a bit more money.

7. It is now faster and more dynamic

With the introduction of Zero Build mode in the game, the developers decided to add more elements to character movement such as sliding or climbing. In addition, the production currently offers a set of tools that make the game even faster and more dynamic. For example, the Shockwave Hammer allows you to move, your allies as well as your enemies; Slap Juice adds unlimited stamina for a time, and some of the reality boosts give bonuses after climbing or running. All of this makes Fortnite much more vibrant today than it was a few years ago.

Our advice!

Use all available weapons and items at least once to familiarize yourself with how they work.

8. Collaborations and events

The Fortnite community has long been known for its high profile collaborations with representatives from the world’s most popular brands and works of pop culture. Everyone was already aware of the huge potential of Epic Games’ production in this regard, but I think few could have predicted that it would reach such a level.. Currently, Fortnite can boast of cooperating with, among others, the most popular video games, anime, comics and movies, resulting in thematic sets of items (for example, inspired by Geralt of Rivia). Almost anyone can find something for themselves here, no matter what other pop culture creations they like. Moreover, such cooperation includes not only in-game skins, but also large events aimed at attracting many players to the screens. We are talking about events that precede the end of seasons or concerts of famous musical stars. Each of these events can be awesome and are great escapes from the normal game.
