Big spend for action-packed scenes is nothing new. Such was the case with one of the biggest box office hits of 2003, among others, where the sequel consumed $2.5 million of the budget.

However, we must not forget that what we see on the screen often costs a lot of work and, above all, money. This is the case of the highway scene in Matrix: Roloaded, where the Wachowski sisters took up the challenge. However, the business at the time was hugely money consuming and required incredible resources.
It cost over $2.5 million to film the scene in which Morpheus, Trinity, and Keymaker are chased by officers on the highway. What was the reason for such a high cost? Mainly because the filmmakers had to build a two kilometer stretch of road on which the scene was shot. With three lanes in each direction, the route was located on the former NAS Alameda airstrip in California, USA. In addition, everything was surrounded by a 20 meter wall (via Sensacine).
The car chase wouldn’t have been so great without the cars themselves. It should be mentioned that the scene was not filled with CGI vehicles. Instead, General Motors donated 300 cars, none of which survived the final day of filming (via Forbes).
