With only a few days left until the eShop closes on 3DS, I wanted to make a video to help people choose what to buy before the last call.

I decided to tailor my list to what I liked most about the system, its catalog of Japanese RPGs. It was with the 3DS that I fell in love with the genre, as it became a haven for some of the genre’s most bountiful and polished classic titles.

In the video below, I go over some recommendations for the many exclusive games on this system that have made the 3DS such a unique and special place for me and others. Many of them have received physical releases but, unsurprisingly, prices have skyrocketed recently. JRPGs often had low print runs and with the online store closing, demand will only make collecting 3DS software more expensive over time. I’ve compared the current US used cartridge prices from pricecharting.com to those on the North American eShop to make sure you have the correct information. In some cases, the eShop listing is much less than the cost of a used physical copy.

A little thing before we start: you can no longer add funds directly to the 3DS. I would recommend using the Nintendo website store or Switch eShop to add funds after linking your Switch account to your Nintendo Network ID from the 3DS. The funds will immediately appear in your 3ds wallet. You can find a link to the official Nintendo guide here. Hopefully these recommendations will help you choose last-minute games that are worth your time.

What are your final plans for the eShop? A game I missed? Leave a comment and let me know!
