People who receive their California stimulus check on a debit card can get it until January 2023. We tell you how it works
Since mid-October, people living in California have been receiving money as part of a stimulus check that seeks to give them some relief from inflation. The financial relief, which can be up to $1,050 for families with dependents, is being doled out to some taxpayers on debit cards.
So far, more than $5 billion in inflation relief money has been delivered in the state of California to eligible taxpayers waiting for direct deposit or debit cards. Of these payments, more than 6.7 million have been direct deposits and more than 2.5 million have been made through debit cards statewide since October 7.
According to the spokesman for the state Tax Board, Andrew LePage, to date, most people who are waiting for a direct deposit should already have received it, and those who are missing will have it in their hands no later than before November 22th.
Regarding debit cards, the fiscal agency explained that it will mail between 150,000 and 200,000 debit cards per day to eligible recipients, according to Lepage statements. These began to be sent from October 24 and will conclude on January 14, 2023.
Who will get a debit card
-Those who submitted their tax return on paper
-Those who had a debit balance
-Those who received their Golden State Stimulus payment by check
-Those who received their tax refund by check, regardless of the method they used to file taxes
-Those who received a 2020 tax refund via direct deposit, but changed some of their account, bank, or address information
-Those who received their tax refund by check, regardless of how they filed their taxes
-Those who received an advance payment from their tax service provider or who paid their tax preparer fees using their refund
What is the payment schedule for those who receive a debit card
It is by the initial letter of the surnames, based on this, the payment schedule is as follows:
-Surnames between F and M: your debit cards will be sent between November 6 and 19.
-Surnames between N and V: your debit cards will be sent between November 20 and December 3.
-Surnames between W and Z: your debit cards will be sent between December 4 and 10.
