Morgan Stanley-owned E-Trade experienced problems on its electronic trading platform late Thursday, according to blackout monitoring website Downdetector.com.

Clients reported incidents where they had trouble logging in and placing orders on the platform.

The cause of the failures is not immediately known. E-Trade did not immediately respond to a Globe Live Media request for comment.

Several trading websites, including online stockbroker Robinhood, have been hit by technical issues in the last day following the trading frenzy involving GameStop and other securities.

E-Trade’s live outage map showed that the problems occurred primarily in the United States.

Robinhood said on its website that it was also experiencing cryptocurrency trading issues and that he was working to resolve them.
