Applications open to claim $675 stimulus check: who will receive it and where

This money is going to be awarded through the Montana Property Tax Refund, which was approved by the state’s governor, Greg Gianforte

The state of Montana is willing to grant $675 dollars to some of its residents as part of a new economic aid, and for that, this week has opened the acceptance of applications. Who can apply for it, until when and what requirements must be met? In Globe Live Media we are going to tell you about it.

This money is going to be awarded through the Montana Property Tax Refund, which was approved by the state’s governor, Greg Gianforte. While it is an announcement that had already been made, as of this week, specifically August 15, the Montana Department of Revenue began accepting the appropriate claims for people to get up to $675. The deadline to file an application is Oct. 1, 2023.

“Property taxes are too high, which is why we prioritized and secured immediate property tax relief for Montanans this legislative session,” Governor Gianforte said in a statement. “I encourage people to log on tomorrow and claim their refund,” he added.

Who qualifies.

Residents who owned and lived in the state of Montana and in that home for at least seven months of 2022 are eligible. To submit your application, you need to have on hand the physical address of the home, the ZIP code, the amount of property taxes paid in 2022 and the names and Social Security numbers of the homeowner, spouse and dependents, if any.

The application should be sent to the following web address: getmyrebate.mt.gov. You can also send it by mail and on paper if you wish. However, according to the Montana Department of Revenue, the most recommended way is to do it digitally, since your application will be processed faster and you will get your money sooner.

Applications will be processed as they come in and payments will be delivered in that order. It is expected that by the end of 2023, all refunds will have been processed.

“Each refund is $675 or an amount not to exceed the property taxes on a primary Montana residence for each year,” the Department of Revenue website says.

By 2023, homeowners will be able to claim Montana property tax refunds for up to $675.
