The Disney Plus series will be back on January 4, 2022.

After more than a year of waiting, “The Bad Batch” will return to Disney Plus with its second season. The “Star Wars” animated series exceeded expectations in its first installment, unlike some live-action like “Obi-wan Kenobi”. Therefore, fans of this franchise are eager to see what is to come for this group of “defective” clones.

The universe created by George Lucas has been expanding for some years and there are several series about various stages of the Republic, the Empire and the New Republic.

Overlapping the ending of “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”, “The Bad Batch” is the thread that connects many of the stories within “The Clone Wars”, “Rebels”, “The Book of Bobba Fett” and “The Mandalorian.”

In the first season, we got to see characters like Saw Guerrera (who reappeared in “Andor”), the bounty hunter Fennec Sand, and a young Hera Syndulla.

Therefore, here we will review the important points that you must remember before the premiere of season 2 on Wednesday, January 4, 2022.

Before continuing, watch the trailer for season 2 of “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” here.

WHAT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER BEFORE WATCHING “STAR WARS: THE BAD BATCH” SEASON 2

order 66

Order 66 is something that has been seen from different angles in several of the “Star Wars” series and movies. In the case of “The Batch Batch”, this is the beginning of the story, because the fact that the 99 brigade are defective clones made the chips inserted into their brains so that they disobey the order to kill the Jedis not work in them.

However, not everyone was so lucky, as Crosshair did try to fulfill the mandate and remained loyal to the Empire even after removing his own chip.

At the time of the order, the group was together with Jedi Master Depa Billaba and Hunter let Caleb Dume escape, who appeared in “Rebels” under the identity of “Kanan Jarrus”.

Refusing to do the Empire’s bidding on several occasions, the 99th Squad is framed for treason and hunted down by their own comrade, Crosshair.

Rex’s influence

When other members of the group start getting delayed effects from Order 66, Rex is the one to inform the group that they can be surgically removed (just like Ahsoka did with him in “The Clone Wars”).

Likewise, Rex helps them in various missions and also sends some new ones, which are related to the rebel foci that are being organized and the liberation of planets.

Omega

Omega is one of the clone DNA experiments that Nala Sen conducted, so it is, in a way, also part of the “Bad Batch” in English. The young woman formed a connection with the group from episode 1, so she manages to rescue her on various occasions and joins the adventures of the brigade.

In the last few episodes, we found out that Nala Sen was the one who had hired Sand to kidnap Omega, but in reality she was looking to protect her so that she doesn’t get caught by the Empire.

The girl was very important, because she had the genetic material of Jango Fett (the bounty hunter from “Episode II”) without modifications, so she was the only source to continue cloning.

Go from clones to stormtroopers

Seeing the limitations of genetic material and how expensive it is to produce and train clones, the Empire decided that they would stop obtaining their army through this means. However, since Tipoca’s technology on Kamino was so dangerous to other opponents, they decided to disable it and destroy it.

As the squad goes to Hunter’s rescue, Tarkin orders the destruction of the city, which begins to sink. Crosshair nearly drowned, until Omega tried to save them (although it was the clone himself who ended up saving himself and the girl).

Meanwhile, Nala Sen was forcibly taken away for what we assume is genetic cloning research.

WHERE DOES “STAR WARS: THE BAD BATCH” SEASON 2 REPLACE FROM?

During an interview with IGN, Jennifer Corbett, one of the showrunners of the series, revealed that the 99th Brigade is not being persecuted by the Empire, as they think they died in the destruction of Tipoca City, which was their home for many years. .

Although they aren’t on the run, Rex and the others are staying “sort of under the radar” and getting odd jobs to get by.

Furthermore, they continue to watch all the changes the Empire is making and how the entire galaxy is being oppressed more and more.

Also, the transition in the use of clones and soldiers will continue to develop in Season 2.
