Based on two series of novels from the “Grishaverse” by author Leigh Bardugo, namely the Shadow and Bone trilogy (2012-2014) and the Six of Crows duology (2015-2016), the television series Shadow and Bone takes place in a war-torn world where lowly soldier and orphan Alina Starkov, played by Jessie Mei Li, has just unleashed an extraordinary power that could be the key to freeing her country. Faced with the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold, Alina is torn from everything she knows to train with an elite army of magical soldiers, the Grisha. But as she struggles to refine her power, she discovers that her allies and enemies can be the same and nothing in this lavish world is what it seems.
In season 2 of Shadow and Bone, new characters will appear, including Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat), Anna Leong Brophy (Traces) and Jack Wolfe (The Witcher), who will be joined by already present actors like Archie Renaux ( Malyen “Mal” Oretsev), Bean Barnes (General Aleksander Kirigan/the Darkling), Daisy Head, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young, Ben Barnes, Danielle Galligan and Calahan Skogman.
A teaser for season 2 of Shadow and Bone
The Shadow and Bone Season 2 teaser opens with a scene where Patrick Gibson, as Nikolai Lantsov, tells comedian Jessie Mei Li’s character: “you are a symbol“. Alina Starkov makes things clear by adding: “I am a sun summoner.”
