Tracy Flick will return from the hand of Paramount +. The film ‘Election, the cult film released in 1999 and starring Reese Witherspoon, will have a second part. Witherspoon herself is set to reprise her role as Tracy Flick, and Alexander Payne will return to the director’s chair.

Payne also wrote the original film, focusing on how the elections in a high school in the United States serve as a pretext to make an acid and devastating critique of the political system, of the dominant values and, in general, of the conduct of human beings. The filmmaker will write the film adaptation with Jim Taylor based on Tom Perrotta’s latest novel, ‘Tracy Flick Can’t Win’, which was published in June of this year. The book finds its eponymous character, a high school entrepreneur, now a hard-working vice principal at a public high school in suburban New Jersey and still struggling to rise to the top.

Witherspoon will also produce the film for Hello Sunshine, his own company with Lauren Neustadter, in addition to producing the original ‘Election,’ Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa of Bona Fide Productions. Perrotta is also an executive producer.

After releasing ‘A Life on the High’ in 2017, Payne is currently shooting his next feature, ‘The Holdovers’, which reunites the director with his ‘Sideways’ star, Paul Giamatti.

As for the actress, she will soon be seen in a Netflix movie, also produced under the Hello Sunshine label. The story will unite Witherspoon with Ashton Kutcher, and will talk about two long-distance friends who radically change her life when she decides to pursue her lifelong dream and he offers to keep an eye on her teenage son.

However, ‘Election’ will not be the second part for the actress. Witherspoon has been working on the third part of ‘Legally Blonde’, one of Witherspoon’s best films, for several years now. In the summer she acknowledged that the long-awaited third of her was ” like Top Gun. They waited a long time to do another version of that movie, and I loved the piece of nostalgia that they put into it.”

And it is that on the one hand there will be Tracy Flick, but Elle Woods is already an icon of the cinema of the 2000s. There are many and many who want to know how the jovial lawyer has fared. The third installment does not have a release date at the moment, but it is scheduled to be released in the next year.
