Through his social networks, the filmmaker shared two unpublished images of the project, currently in post-production. In these images, the film’s protagonists can be seen in more detail.
In one, Lady Gaga appears observing Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, and in another, the latter appears in what looks like the cell of a psychiatric hospital.
“I wish you all a happy holiday season and a beautiful new year,” the director wrote alongside the official images of “Joker: Folie à Deux.”
While the Oscar winner returns in his role as Arthur Fleck, Gaga will bring to life his female counterpart, Harley Quinn, who in previous DC tapes has been played by Margot Robbie.
The film, which is set in an alternate universe to DC’s current theatrical plan, will be released on October 4 next year. The cast of the sequel also includes Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson and Zazie Beetz.
