Hollywood Vampires reportedly canceled concert in Budapest because Johnny Depp suffered a fainting spell

The good health of the actor was put in doubt after Hungarian media reported that the cancellation of his band’s performance in Budapest was due to the fact that he was found fainting in the hotel room where they were staying.

After Johnny Depp’s chaotic 2022, which will be remembered as the year of the controversial trial with his ex-partner Amber Heard, 2023 has focused on his musical career and started a tour with his band Hollywood Vampires, in which he shares the stage with great rock stars such as Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Tommy Henriksen, and is currently playing concerts in Europe.

However, the date scheduled in Budapest, Hungary for July 18 was cancelled. The band issued a statement which read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Vampires will cancel tonight’s show”, without giving further details about the reasons and also announcing that they would refund the cost of the tickets.

A couple of days later, local media ‘Daily News Hungary’ published that an anonymous source revealed to them that the actor and guitarist had suffered a fainting spell. “Johnny Depp fainted so badly that a doctor had to be called to his hotel room in Budapest”, the informant revealed.

Hollywood Vampires cancelled two concerts in a row

What was most striking about the situation is that their next concert, scheduled for July 20 in Slovakia, was also cancelled. However, on that occasion they did make the reason known and it was because the facilities were not suitable for the event to take place.

“Upon arriving today at the venue in Slovakia to begin setting up everything for tonight’s show, it quickly became evident that the construction of the facilities was incomplete and therefore it was not safe for the band or the audience,” reads part of their press release.

On the other hand they also gave some clarity on Depp’s health status. “This cancellation is not related to the recent cancellation in Budapest, but we can assure you that the band members are safe and sound. We will see them in Poland, Germany and the United States in the coming days.”

On the other hand, staff members such as Kyler Clark, Alice Cooper’s assistant, made reference to the notes published in Hungarian media, assuring that they gave false information. “A Johnny Depp evidently still dead took the stage with The Hollywood Vampires in Poland a few moments ago”, was what he wrote after Hollywood Vampires performed without mishaps at the Festiwal Legend Rocka.
