During a conference in Los Angeles, singer Selena Gomez commented that she will not watch the documentary “My Mind & Me” again, in which she exposed her bipolar disorder, because it would be too painful for her to remember that stage of her life.

For years singer Selena Gomez dealt with mental health issues, and that was exposed in the Apple TV+ documentary “My Mind & Me”, released in 2022. Now she commented that she would not watch that film again, because it would be too painful for her to endure the scenes.

Gomez attended a conference on music and health organized in Los Angeles by the company Thrive Global, and said that it was not originally her intention for the documentary – in which she is shown when she is diagnosed with bipolar – to be released: “I was against it. There was a very long period of time where I just didn’t know if it was a good idea…I didn’t know if it would jeopardize things in my life, letting people into my life. And then the moment it was released…I had no choice at that point. And I felt relieved. I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders.”

The 31-year-old singer is proud of the final work, but said she would not watch it again: “I felt I had to say things I had been holding back for years. I’ll never watch it again, it’s very difficult for me, but I’m very proud of the documentary. I couldn’t have been luckier to have the people who worked with me. “My Mind & Me” was directed by Alek Keshishian, and the theme song, performed by Selena herself, became a minor hit in December last year.
