Madonna reappeared on the networks with a photo and her followers accuse her of being “too retouched”.

In recent years, the “Material Girl” has been harshly criticized for refusing to accept her age

After giving the entertainment industry a big scare, Madonna returned to the networks last July 10 with an emotional message to her fans where she assured that she was still recovering and that next October she would officially start the tour with which she will celebrate 40 years of career. However, no details have been provided yet about the new dates for her tour in Canada and the United States, with which Madonna was going to start the tour on July 15.

While waiting for updates on the shows, Madonna has reappeared on her official Instagram account with new photos in which she looks much healthier, but apparently, one of the pictures has a trick.

Along with the caption “A rose can be my garden. A friend can be my world. Thank you,” Madonna posed in an image where she is seen with her hair in braids and a white jacket with pink details while embracing a huge floral arrangement of roses. While some of her fans showered the singer with compliments and were happy to see her back on the networks, others criticized the fact that Madonna uploaded such a retouched photo.

The image shows Madonna with merely intact skin, which many found “unreal” considering that “The Material Girl” will be 65 years old in August. Many users claimed that Madonna looked even younger than her daughter Lourdes Leon, 26, calling for her to stop editing her photos so blatantly.

This is not the first time that Madonna has been criticized for photos where she exaggerates with filters, in addition, many media claim that the interpreter of La Isla Bonita suffers from geracosphobia, an almost irrational fear of aging. This has not only been reflected in the pictures Madonna uploads to her networks, but also in how she has lived her last two tours. During the Madame X Tour, Madonna tried unsuccessfully to give 100 concerts in six months with choreographies and acrobatics with an enormous physical demand, the result? She cancelled several shows because her body couldn’t take the strain.

Now, on her 40th anniversary tour, she couldn’t even start the shows due to the inhuman rehearsals she put herself through in order to be able to compete with younger figures like Taylor Swift and Pink. According to sources close to the singer-songwriter, Madonna rehearsed 12 hours a day, and although her intention was to be in complete shape for her tour, the result was totally counterproductive.

However, everything seems to indicate that Madonna is falling victim to a culture that harshly punishes women’s aging. Proof of this is the shocking speech the Queen of Pop gave in 2016 after being named Woman of the Year at the Billboard Awards.

“Thank you for recognizing my ability to continue my career for 34 years in the face of blatant misogyny, sexism, constant bullying and relentless abuse. I receive an award for being Woman of the Year in the music industry, and what can I say about being a woman in this industry, what can I say about being a woman? Please don’t get old. Because getting old is a sin: you’ll be criticized, you’ll be denigrated and you definitely won’t get played on the radio.”

Days before performing at the Billboards, Madonna held an interview with Elizabeth Banks where she assured that unlike what has been said over the years, she’s not at odds with the idea of getting older.

“I don’t care, it’s society that worries about these things. I never think about my age until someone mentions it. I have wisdom, experience, knowledge and an important point of view. Can a teenager say that? I don’t think so. Age is an issue that is only brought up in relation to women.”
