The ceremony of Grammy 2022 will take place this April 3 and with it the intrigue rises about who will win the coveted trophies of the most prestigious music award.
One of the categories that has fierce competition is that of Best Urban Music Album, where some of the biggest stars of this genre compete for the award. Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Karol G, Kali Uchis and Rauw Alejandro have shown excellent work this year, all worthy of taking the award. Let’s remember the nominees:
Best Urban Music Album
- “Aphrodisiac” – Rauw Alejandro
- “The last tour of the world” – Bad Bunny
- “Jose” – J Balvin
- “KG0516″ – Karol G
- “Mendó” – Alex Cuba
- “Without fear (of love and other demons)” – Kali Uchis
At the moment, Bad Bunny and “The Last Tour of the World” seem to be the clear favorites in the competition, an album that is considered by many to be the best of this artist who has dominated the genre in recent years.
However, albums like Karol G’s “KG0516” and Kali Uchis’s “Sin Fear” have also managed to take a place in the crowded arena of urban music, exploring it with a powerful female perspective that could have convinced the voters of the Academy.
J Balvin’s “José” is a solid competitor, but the artist’s sixth album lacks the innovation and emotional core of his previous competitors, something that also happens with the other remaining nominees who, although they are excellent examples of reggaeton, do not have that plus ultra that would help them win in this year’s close competition.
