The actor admits that he “shut himself in and closed the curtains” as he struggled to cope with the success of his role as James Bond

Daniel Craig has admitted that he felt “physically and mentally besieged” when trying to cope with his newfound fame by playing James Bond.

The 53-year-old actor became a global star when he took on the role of 007 for Pierce Brosnan, making his first spy appearance on Casino Royale in 2005.

In the Apple TV + documentary “Being James Bond,” Craig explains that he was unprepared for the repercussions of taking the role and that he felt “physically and mentally under siege ‘when trying to cope with fame”.

“My personal life was affected by being so famous all of a sudden. I used to lock myself in and close the curtains. I felt physically and mentally besieged. It was Hugh Jackman who helped me accept and appreciate it.”
