Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones (‘Chicago’) could be the new villain in the series ‘The Legend of the Lost Treasure’, on Disney+. According to The Illuminerdi, the actress was offered the role of Billie, a ruthless billionaire specializing in cryptocurrencies. The project, based on the films starring Nicolas Cage, will have 10 episodes.

The series will be a reimagined version of the franchise, and will star Jess Morales, a young Latina in her 20s. The series was written by the duo Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, writers of the original films, and will be directed by Indian filmmaker Mira Nair.
