Mexico-Cuban actress Ana Celia de Armas Caso is celebrating her birthday this April 30 in Havana, where she is on vacation with her boyfriend, businessman Paul Boukadakis.
The first images of Ana in Cuba were seen on April 27 at the José Martí airport. She was greeted at the door of the plane by her best friend, Cuban actress Claudia “Muma” Alvariño.
Images of her stay have emerged showing the actress strolling around Old Havana, eating in luxurious restaurants such as La Guarida and visiting the facilities of the children’s theater group La Colmenita.
The meeting took place at the company’s headquarters, located on 13th Street in Havana’s El Vedado. De Armas arrived at the facility invited by her friend Claudia Alvariño, who is the deputy director of the group.
During this visit, the first Cuban actress nominated for an Oscar, exchanged with Miguel Angel Jimenez, a Spanish chef very close to Lis Cuesta.
Jimenez is one of the managers of the culinary events organized by Diaz-Canel’s wife, including the culinary workshop “Cuba sabe”.
Her visit and the agenda that has followed has divided the Cuban audience into two main groups. On the one hand, many accuse her of being washing the face of the dictatorship, which uses her image to show a fictitious Cuba. On the other hand, there are those who defend her right to visit her country of origin and choose at will what to do or not.
Another criticism of Ana is that she has kept her distance from human rights violations in Cuba and that she did not even denounce when her brother, photographer Javier Caso, was harassed. Nor did she speak out after July 11.
Ana de Armas made her Hollywood debut in 2015, with a performance in Knock Knock. She later participated in Blade Runner 2049, sequel to the iconic sci-fi film Blade Runner. In 2022, in addition to Blonde, he released Deep Water and The Invisible Agent.
This month saw the premiere of Ghosted, an Apple TV+ super production directed by Dexter Fletcher, in which the Cuban actress once again works alongside American Chris Evans.
At 35 years old, her name is already among the stars of the Hollywood world. In 2020, the Cuban actress was invited to join the membership of the Academy in the Actors and Actresses branch.
This year, for her performance in Blonde, she was nominated for Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards.
