Approximately 166 million people in Europe are affected by some form of disability. Recent research reveals that a third (1/3) of them experience gum problems due to difficulties in maintaining their oral health1. Oral-B is on a mission to ensure that everyone has an equitable oral care experience, whether it’s at the dentist’s office with easily accessible, personalized tips and tricks, or products used at home to maintain health. oral.

Benjamin Binot, Senior Vice President, Oral Care at P&G Europe, said: “As a leading innovative brand in oral health for over 70 years and the #1 dentist recommended brand, we recognize the importance of making oral care accessible to all and are constantly listening experiences of people with disabilities to understand how we can help them. Through this work, we have learned that oral health care difficulties for these people are more common because many have not been taught the skills they need to brush their teeth effectively, experience a sense of inevitability from their tooth decay, and may be especially anxious in the dentist’s chair. As a brand, we recognize our responsibility in helping to ensure that oral care is accessible to all, and we are committed to proud to partner with iADH to work on improving the experience for people who live with disabilities.

The first step in this partnership is the co-creation of the “Positive Practices” program, designed to train and educate dental practices on how to be more confident and inclusive when dealing with their patients.

Alison Dougall, President of the IADH said “We are delighted to be working with Oral-B to address the significant oral health inequalities experienced by people with disabilities in Europe through innovation, education, research and advocacy. By working Together, our goal is to make a positive difference in the oral care experience of people living with visible and non-visible disabilities.

iADH exists to improve the oral health of people with disabilities and Oral-B exists to offer the best results in oral care, offering rewarding and enjoyable experiences for everyone every day. Because of our shared values, when Oral-B approached us to join in partnership, it felt very natural.”

The brand will also be present at the iADH 2022 Biennial Congress in Paris to learn from global members, who will share their knowledge and experience in improving oral health outcomes for people with disabilities, at a thought leader workshop hosted by Oral-B. The collected findings will help enrich Positive Practices and ensure that the training program is supported by highly qualified knowledge.
