Enel X Way , the Enel Group company dedicated to electric mobility, and the Volkswagen Group , have announced the launch of their joint venture, Ewiva. With equal ownership between both companies, the goal of the joint venture is to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in Italy and develop a high-power charging (HPC) network throughout the country.

Ewiva has already started to follow the path of its goal with the deployment of the largest ultra-fast charging network in Italy, with 750 points, some of which are currently awaiting activation in 233 locations. All of them are added to the approximately 17,000 charging points operated by Enel X Way.

The joint venture expects to have charging points in a total of 500 locations by the end of 2023. The goal is to reach 3,000 charging points, each with up to 350 kW and powered by 100% renewable energy by 2025.

Thus, Ewiva will operate more than 800 locations in urban centers, suburban areas and main roads used by travelers and tourists. Drivers of all types of electric vehicles will be able to benefit from the joint venture’s HPC network.

Inauguration of the first charging station

Ewiva started operating yesterday in Rome with the inauguration of its first charging station in Via Flaminia 871. Customers will have at their disposal a waiting room and 14 ultra-fast charging points with 300 kW each.
