Xbox Game Pass subscriptions are getting more and more over the months and years

Still far from profitable given the billions spent, the subscription service launched by the American publisher Microsoft in 2017 still continues to attract many players thanks to its attractive price and the games available.

If they were more than 18 million to be subscribers last year, in particular thanks to the arrival of Bethesda games, they are now more than 25 million subscribers:

Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, believes that Sony’s Game Pass is inevitable and is not afraid of an alternative offer because it is a will of the current market:

As you know so many things are tied together, from backwards compatibility as a tool to shape a library of games that we release on PC and console simultaneously to knowing that Game Pass is coming and that we want to bring Game Pass to multiple platforms – all of these decisions pile on top of each other. I don’t want to sound like I have it all figured out, but I think the right answer is to allow its customers to play the games they want to play, where they want to play them, and give them the choice of how to build their libraries, while being transparent about the goals in terms of PC initiatives or cross-gen initiatives and other things. So when I hear that others are doing things like Game Pass or wanting to come to PC, that makes sense to me, because that’s the right answer. I don’t see that as validation. In fact, when I speak with the teams, I speak of inevitability. For us, it is necessary to continue to innovate, to be competitive, because there are things that we do that can be an advantage for this market today, but it is just based on the fact that we have done it first, not that we’ve created something no one else can do. It’s better because it boosts our energy towards the next ideas that we should work on to continue building on what has been started before. Because I think the right way is to launch great games, launch them on PC, on console, on the cloud, and make them available from launch with the subscription. And I think that’s what the competition is going to do.”
