Israeli authorities detained four Palestinians suspected of having participated in the attack on students in the West Bank

The subjects were captured in the village of Silat al-Haaretia, in an operation in which the Security Agency, the Army and the Police Anti-Terrorism Unit participated.

Israeli forces reported Sunday that they captured four Palestinians suspected of shooting a vehicle full of students in a West Bank settlement , an attack that left one dead and two wounded.

“The four terrorists who carried out the shooting last Thursday were caught,” the Israeli army said in a statement.

“The suspects were transferred to the security forces for investigation , and the gun of the suspect in the shooting was seized,” he added.

The detainees are suspected of gunning down 25-year-old Yehuda Dimentman and wounding two students leaving Homesh, an illegal settlement in the northern West Bank late Thursday night.

The army said the suspects were detained in Jenin town of Silat al Harithiyah. The Security Agency, the Army and the Police Anti-Terrorism Unit participated in the capture operation.

Dimentman was married and studying at a religious school (yeshiva) in Homesh. The settlement was evacuated by Israeli forces in 2005, but the yeshiva continued to operate.

“We isolated the building where they were found” the Palestinians, military spokesman General Ran Kochav told Israeli public radio.

“I think it is a terrorist organization,” Kochav added, without identifying a specific group.

Several Palestinian groups welcomed the attack , although none claimed responsibility.

Israel captured the West Bank in 1967 and some 500,000 Israelis live in settlements in that territory, which the international community considers illegal.

The Israeli army reported that it had deployed additional battalions and special forces to locate the attackers who, according to the army, are Palestinians.

Israel’s chief of staff, General Aviv Kochavi , said in a statement that intelligence tools and combat forces are being used and that operations will be expanded, if necessary.

” We are not going to stop until we capture the terrorists, ” said Kochavi, who visited the scene of the attack.

The attack took place near Homesh , an illegal settlement in the northern West Bank, where the victims were studying at a Talmudic school.

About 2,000 people attended Yehuda Dimentman’s funeral on Friday, reported a journalist from the AFP agency .

” A Jew has been killed for the simple fact of being a Jew living in his land, ” Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett wrote on his Twitter account.
