After receiving the award, Penelope Cruz wanted to dedicate it to her mother and Pilar Bardem , her recently deceased mother-in-law. In a speech during the gala, he revealed his last conversation with her.
“At the end of our last conversation he told me: ‘I love you'”, Penelope Cruz explains in her speech. Also that she was very fragile at the time and that “those words would be the last she would say to me . “

Pilar Bardem Passed away two months ago
Pilar Bardem died last July , at the age of 82, due to a lung disease. It belonged to one of the sagas most linked to the film industry, but it was never a star.
In 2000, Pilar Bardem was diagnosed with lung and colon cancer . He beat the disease by undergoing two operations. In 2019, he shared that he had no more strength to withstand the rhythms of filming and recording. “I better stay home. I have no choice. We have to assume what there is,” he said.
