The followers of the British royalty awaited the meeting between brothers. Finally – after a year without seeing each other – and after the explosive statements of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to Oprah Winfrey, Princes William and Harry were again face to face.

Prince William and Harry spoke as they left the funeral of their grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor Castle today. The Duke of Sussex arrived from California last weekend and quarantined Fromghouse.

Just today they were seen together in public. William, 38, and Harry, 36, were among the nine members of the Royal Family who walked behind the coffin – although separated by their cousin Peter Philips, at the request of the queen to minimize tensions.

The press caught the moment where the brothers – along with Kate Middleton – exchanged words when they returned to the castle after the funeral service.

Harry’s friend Tom Bradby, who was hosting ITV’s coverage of the funeral today, said: “Funerals are a time of reconciliation and that’s a spectacle, let’s be honest, that many wanted to see. Not least the family itself ”.

About an hour earlier, the Duke of Cambridge entered the chapel one place before his younger brother, and the brothers were sitting across from each other during the service, with William alongside his wife Kate Middleton.

William and Harry looked shocked as they walked silently behind the specially adapted Land Rover carrying their grandfather’s coffin as it made its way to the chapel and stared straight ahead as they both wore black suits.

It was quietly hoped that the loss of their beloved grandfather, whom both men loved deeply, could start the process of rapprochement, but the brothers are not believed to have seen each other before the funeral.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had previously been seen wearing face masks as they exited Kensington Palace in west London in the back of a vehicle before being driven the 20 miles to Windsor for the funeral.

During the service the brothers sat apart

Speaking about the brothers ‘conversation today, body language expert Judi James told MailOnline:’ The moment of connection between William and Harry came right at the end of the service when they left the chapel.

AND in a well-coordinated but also relatively natural moment, Harry walked up to William and Kate, then joined them, walked among them, and chatted with them both.

After a few seconds of what seemed like a natural and uninhibited conversation, Kate backed away, leaving the two brothers walking alone. It seemed like a genuine moment of unity rather than something intended for cameras.

Royal assistants have been ‘walking on eggshells’ as they try to navigate the gap between the siblings, sources said last night as tensions persist after Harry and Meghan’s bitter separation from the royal family last year, and all the scandals that followed.

The truth is that both brothers are predisposed to maintain peace to support their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, will this be the first step to the imminent reconciliation?
