Tashera Simmons has taken advantage of her birthday, just one day after the death of her ex-husband, to dedicate a precious tribute to him on Instagram.

Rapper Earl Simmons, known to the music world as DMX, died last Friday at the age of 50 in a New York hospital after having been admitted to a vegetative state for almost a week after suffering a heart attack as a result of an overdose. .

His family released a statement highlighting his warrior personality and iconic legacy, and social media was immediately filled with messages of condolence and tribute. And just the day after his death, his ex-wife Tashera Simmons posted her own heartfelt farewell to the artist on Instagram.

Taking advantage of his 50th birthday, Simmons has shared on his Instagram account a video with a photomontage of some of the most important moments of his life, including an image of his wedding with DMX, to which he has dedicated some affectionate and emotional words:

“Today I celebrate my life thanking God for the 50 years he has given me. But I also want to celebrate my ex-husband, my best friend, my spiritual partner, my mentor. I thank God for his life and his peace. And for his journey and its life lessons, which will be shared and will continue to live on for generations to come, “said Simmons.

In the accompanying text to the video, Simmons has also referred to DMX as “one of the most important people in my life . ” Towards the end of his message, after thanking the support received, the rapper’s ex-wife confessed to going through some very hard days, before adding that she has learned “from the strongest man I have ever known. We will recover. God bless you all.”

The couple were married for more than ten years: they went through the altar in 1998 and separated in 2005 although it was not until 2012 that Simmons launched the divorce process. They had four children together , Xavier, Tacoma, Praise Mary Ella and Sean.
